6th Grader, Skylar Johnson, was honored yesterday at the Youth Appreciation Luncheon given by the Optimist Club of Bay County. Skylar was among several other Bay County students recognized for being Unsung Heroes. Skylar was nominated by St. Michael School Staff for the positive difference she is making at the school. Johnny Burke from 96.1 WHNN Visited Our School Today!
Johnny Burke from 96.1 WHNN and the Johnny Burke Children’s Foundation visited St. Michael School Wednesday to accept a donation for the Johnny Burke Children’s Foundation. Students raised the money with their annual Penny War which took place during Catholic Schools Week. As part of their service and stewardship, Student Council decided to donate the money to a charity that helped out local kids like themselves. Johnny Burke spoke to the students about what the Johnny Burke Children’s Foundation is and answered all of their questions.

Gabrielle Reszke received the 2014 Kids Who Care Award from Maier and Associates and Pastor Dunn a representative for the company. Maier and Associates gives out awards to middle school age students in the tri-counties every year. Gabrielle also received a brand new laptop computer for her accomplishment. Gabrielle Reszke, an 8th grader, was recently selected as an "Unsung Hero" by St. Michael School staff. Gabrielle was chosen for her excellent work ethic, wonderful attitude, willingness to help others, and being a leader and role model to other students at St. Michael. Gabrielle was honored for her achievements by the Bay City Noon Optimist Club at a special luncheon on Tuesday, February 18th, which the mayor of Bay City proclaimed Youth Appreciation Day.
